I'm so relieved to hear that bees (I definitely resonate with that description) are smart, organized and (kinda/pretty well) know where everything is! It's so true. I do want to see things, and I do have too much stuff. And, I do find it hard to let it go. I always figured I needed more space (or more bookcases). Taking the time to actually organize things is the stumper. I've been meaning to organize the three spaces I've taken over upstairs, since I had knee surgery and brought the things I actually needed from my craft room in the basement. I tend to procrastinate and need the stress of having to do it in 7 days (knowing I'll probably wait until I have 4 days left before our company comes).

I call my junk journal "my joy journal"! Every time something or some experience brings me joy I write in it or attach mementos to the pages. Its so much fun to create them!

I love your explanations. I have been making junk journals since way back before I knew there was a name for them, it was not only the only way I could afford a journal, but rescuing trash and creating a useful item was therapeutic. Every page has memories before I even start writing, love them.

I think you nailed it right on the head as to why a junk journal. I have made several, my favourite is to my late husband where I have made a journal of all his work sheets; car licenses any piece of paper that has his writing on, photographs all kinds of bits that would otherwise be hidden away in a drawer or thrown away , is now safely in a book dedicated to his life with me, I love it

I never knew about glue books but I have always saved all kinds of my favorite things that I loved. I saved them all in a binder with page protectors that served as pouches.

I started to make these about 10 years ago, because I wanted to start journaling. It was so fun to make it so I continued . I don't really make them anymore but make mixed media, but I managed to make around 100. I didn't make them to sell them, but I started to sell them when I had around 40. I didn't have room for them anymore. Only the first two I made was 100% scraps, then I started to make a lot of my own papers. I never used any of the journals I made 🙂

I lovve those metallic hinges! I used to follow Cathe Holden when she had just a blog and a website, when she didn’t have the barn studio done etc. she’s so talented and it’s good to see her name now all over the place.

I’m a new subbie although I realized I had watched and loved your videos previously but somehow had forgotten given the amount of content on YT these days. This time around, I’m addicted to your videos lol. Not a single video yours should be missed. Your collages are so wonderfully cohesive. I truly love seeing your selection and trial process. I have lots of magazine images but struggle to use them unless they’re birds or botanicals. Seeing your journal made of mostly magazine cut outs floored me! Is that made from a book where you glued pages together and then collaged? Would you PLEASE PLEASE consider a tutorial on how to get started? I could go on but you get the idea, love your projects 100%!! I’m still working full time and not enough time to craft. When I do, I’m honestly a bit overwhelmed as to which one to work on given the number of videos I’ve saved. Sorry for the long rant but just too excited watching your work. 💛

Margarete: nice job collaging. I use magazine pictures almost exclusively. Once in a while I use other elements, but I love cut-outs from magazines. It depends on what I’m doing. Also, I do from busy to brief collages. I have always loved discovering unusual things in collages. Being an interior designer, I see things differently and it always shows up in my collages. And of course, I love fussy cutting. I love to see how everyone collages, you have a fantastic style. That book you just showed was outstanding. I think I need to have another look at it. I've never heard of junk journals! Your video popped up on my feed so I clicked on it, because I am about to start a new journal on my Tarot deck studies so I was curious about this from the title of the video. I'm returning to Tarot after not doing it for a while, and I can't wait. But I think this is a lovely idea too, I just might try it, as well. Thank you! The Q&A part at the start was good, and actually demonstrating how to make a junk journal was very helpful. Sharing this video with my sister. :)

I appreciate that you go through your thinking process in real time. I find that I am often times agreeing with your choices and that's helping me to learn. I didn't really find the background noise distracting. I am enjoying the series very much.

Well I for one like your videos very much. So interesting to watch the process that you go through to create a collage. I'm looking forward to doing mine. I use magazine pictures in my journal making all the time and my glue books so the hardest part for me will be to decide on what to use. I will try to start putting my Creations on Instagram next week

It's not much different than diamond painting. You're not really going to hang all those things in your house, most people don't want them as gifts, and there's no market to sell them. The point is the process.

I love your magazine pages journal! What size is it? I have tons of magazines and catalogs around. I have some oversize planners, etc. from B&N bargain tables but haven't decided what to put in them. 😊

Great ideas and good way to use up ugly papers for the base. I could make several, allow the glue to dry completely and stitch them all up! TFS!

As a new beginner I like this assignment using prompts! I just can’t bring myself to start with something, I’m just hoarding! Living in the middle of Sweden i’ts hard finding materials, because you don’t know the name of them😅Then it’s annoying when your Swedish keyboard doesn’t want to write what you want. Hi I have been doing collage for a few years now, I love how you share and inspire. Your videos are engaging and I enjoy watching. Thank you for the 50 prompts. I just did the first prompt today. I've built up a little bit of an ephemera collection. I'm using a vintage used rolodex-type address book 5X3" that I've had for a year or more and these prompts looked perfect to use for it. This is my first attempt at Junk Journal type collage or glue book type of collage. I have always worked on a larger substrate. I've always wanted to do something smaller. Thanks again for the inspiration.
